Lovebirds
The movie

India - Lovebirds are young rebel lovers that risk their life just to stay together. They escape their families and persecution from India’s ancient tradition of prohibiting marriage outside one’s caste or religion. Different stories of Lovebirds on the run interweave in a poor shelter in New Delhi. There to help them is Mr. Sachdev who leads the Love Commandos, a group of Indian activists supporting their rebel choices.

Take action

In India you're running a big risk if you fall in love with someone from a different caste or religion. Being kicked out of the family or becoming the victim of an "honor killing" are just two of the possible consequences for lovers who choose to stay together against their families' wishes. The so-called honor crimes are estimated to take approximately 20,000 lives a year worldwide. Take action and learn more at:

Uniting against Honor related Killings and Crimes; Honoring it's Victims and raising awareness of these practices through worldwide candlelight vigils. It is important to mention as an event coordinator we collect no funds whatsoever. This is not an effort to create a new organization. Nor do we plan to align ourselves with any one organization. Our goal is to raise awareness of these crimes and provide a platform to groups, organizations and individuals all over the world who are fighting for this cause. This is a way to engage their communities and take action against these practices in a peaceful and powerful way. May we show that while diverse in many areas Humanity comes together under basic Human Values. May the world see a day when these practices no longer have a place.

Love Commandos is a voluntary organization in India dedicated to helping India’s lovebirds who want to marry for love. We provide assistance in protecting couples, helping them fight harassment and giving them shelter so they can marry freely.

The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) is an independent left oriented women's organisation committed to achieving democracy, equality and women's emancipation. AIDWA members are from all strata in society, regardless of class, caste and community. It has an organizational presence in 22 states in India, with a current membership of more than 9 million. About two-thirds of the organsation's strength is derived from poor rural and urban women.
